Who the hell am I?

Direct and to the point! I like you already. Here are some answers:

• My name is Rhys Smith and i'm 23;
• I was born at 4:16AM on June 18th, 1981, which was a Thursday, in the chinese year of the cock rooster. I am, of course, a Gemini.
• The Keirsey Character Sorter (a Myers-Briggs style personality test) lists me as iNFj, whose description seems fairly accurate to me in most respects.

What do you do?

• I'm currently doing a PhD in the School of Computer Science at Cardiff University, where incidentally I did my undergraduate honours degree. Yes, that's correct, i am a geek.

Where are you?

• I currently live in Cardiff (which is in South Wales in the UK), only 10 minutes walk away from my Department. Which is nice, except for the fact it means I get far too little exercise.
• I'm orignally from a town called Caerphilly (also in South Wales). I consider myself both Welsh and British, and am proud to be both.
• I live in "That Spooky Old Mansion In The Woods", where i practise rituals that should not be practised, do things things that no mortal should do, and see things that no mortal should see - namely, sacrificing inanimate objects to the gods (in the hope that someday someone will write a driver for my scanner for Windows XP), coding my undergraduate final year university project in ASP and Access (I was forced to!), and Discovery Home and Leisure, respectively.

Caerphilly, eh?

• Yes.

Anything interesting there?

• Well...there's a cool castle;
• And of course Caerphilly is the home of Caerphilly cheese (yes, i know it's now produced in england, but that's not the point...);
• Caerphilly is also one of the last places on this planet that hasn't yet been invaded by Starbucks...though i have a feeling it's only a matter of time;
• Ok, i can only think of three things... but it's home.

So tell me...

• Are you single? Yup.
• Are you happy? Yes, pretty much. Things are going fairly well in my life at the moment, so i'm enjoying this unique circumstance to the full while it lasts.
• What are your political leanings? They vary. I lean to the far left in some areas (verging on communistic in a few), and lean to the far right in some other areas... yes, i'm a raving capitalist with communist leanings. It certainly makes for a lot of thinking when it comes to vote...
• Do you believe in God? Not as such. I'd describe myself as agnostic, or possibly panteistic (depending on the definition of panteist you're thinking of, i've seen a few).
• Are you superstitious? I try not to be, but find myself doing things like walking around ladders instead of under them without thinking about it...
• Summer or Winter? Winter.
• Why are you wearing sunglasses when it's dark outside? Because they're prescription and make things in the distance less blurry.
• Do you have any sordid secrets? Well, i don't know about sordid, but there are definitely some things very few people know about me...
