Bebe Neuwirth has established herself as a versatile actress on stage, film and television. Neuwirth recently starred as Lola in the new production of "Damn Yankees" and in City Center's Encores! series production of "Pal Joey." She won a Tony Award for her Broadway role in "Sweet Charity." Her other Broadway credits include "A Chorus Line," "Little Me" and "Dancin'." In addition, she has performed leading roles in numerous regional productions, including "Chicago," "West Side Story," "Sweet Charity," "A Chorus Line" and "Just So," and played the title role in the West End production of "Kiss of the Spider Woman." Neuwirth has also appeared in the popular comedy revues "Upstairs at O'Neal's," "Showing Off" and "Cabaret Verboten." Her film roles include "Jumanji", "Say Anything," "Malice," "Green Card," "Bugsy," and "Pinocchio." During her six seasons on "Cheers," Neuwirth won two Emmy Awards for her portrayal of the deadpan, wickedly funny Dr. Lilith Sternin. Her other television appearances include the hit comedy series "Fraser," "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and the event series "Wild Palms." Based in Princeton, New Jersey, Neuwirth began studying ballet at the age of five. She danced with the Princeton Ballet Company in such classics as "Peter and the Wolf," "The Nutcracker" and "Coppelia," and also appeared in community theatre musicals. After graduation, she received her formal training at the Julliard School. |
