Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer)

Frasier Crane

After his second wife Lilith left him for the final time, Dr. Frasier Crane left his trusty bar stool at "Cheers" to start a new life in his home town of Seattle (at the age of 41). Not only does he move to a different city, he also changes jobs, from a psychiatrist to the host of a radio phone-in advice show, at Seattle's KACL 780 talk radio.

Frasier's father, Martin Crane (an ex-cop), soon moved into Frasier's apartment after his return to Seattle - a move which Frasier is not initially very happy about, not least because of the hideous vomit-green reclining chair he insists on bringing with him. Martin also brings with him his English health care worker, Daphne, and his dog - a Jack Russell terrier called Eddie.

Frasier's younger brother, Niles, also lives in Seattle, and is also a psychiatrist, and has a very successful private practise.

Frasier has a son named Frederick that occasionally makes an appearance on the show. Frederick's mother is Frasier's second (ex) wife Lilith.

Frasier's apartment number is 1901, and he lives in the Elliot Bay Towers, on the Counterbalance.

Frasier graduated Harvard, with honors in psycho-social behaviorism.

Frasier's IQ is 129 (27 lower than Niles).

You can often find Frasier and his brother Niles seeking refuge at a small coffee shop called "Cafe Nervosa", where they discuss life, love, wine, and other brotherly things. Frasier's usual is double kona with cream.

Quotes:

Frasier: Oh, what do I ever say?! "You're in denial, seek help," blah blah blah.

[About men.]
Frasier: How can we possibly use sex to get what we want? Sex *is* what we want!

[Frasier complains he does not like to hug.]
Roz: Physical contact extends our lives.
Frasier: Well then, you'll outlive Styrofoam.

[Frasier tries to comfort Daphne who's unhappy with her love life.]
Frasier: I know how bleak these times can be, but believe me, they will come to an end sometime or later. I remember a time back in Boston, I was going through exactly what you're going through now. Just a week later I met a lovely barmaid, sophisticated if a bit loquacious. We fell madly in love and we got engaged... 'course, she left me standing at the altar. The point is, I didn't give up. I took my poor battered heart and handed it to Lilith. ...Then in her little Cuisinart, she hit the purée button. I rebounded, and look how far I've got! I'm divorced, lonely, living with my father.

Frasier: Roz, I'm going to tell you something that I didn't learn until I became a parent. You don't just love your children. You fall in love with them.

Niles: Excuse me, I need a moment alone with my brother.
Frasier: Not now, Niles! I'm doing really well here. This pointy hat is a babe magnet!

Frasier: In the last week, I've uprooted myself from my home of fifteen years, moved all the way across the country away from everything I care about, and plunged myself into a frightening new career! The first few nerve-wracking moments, I walk in here and find my producer lobbying to get herself transferred to another show! Abe Lincoln had a brighter future when he picked up his tickets at the box office!

[To Eddie after having a bad day]
Frasier: Don't stare at me, Eddie. I'm a humane man, but right now I could kick a kitten through an electric fan.

[to Lilith]
Frasier:I would drive a stake through your heart, but I'm not sure anything could kill you!

[greeting Lilith on their first reunion]
Frasier: What brings you to Seattle, the constant rain?

[On Maris' 112 unpaid parking tickets]
Frasier:What do you expect from a woman who thinks a chocolate allergy entitles her to use a handicapped space?
